Joint Issue of Stamps on Flowers– Sri Lanka – Japan 2013
Sri Lanka and Japan issued a set of two stamps as a Joint issue on 18 Jan 2013. It marked the 60th Anniversary of Diplomatic relations between Sri Lanka and Japan.The theme was Flowers. The two flowers on stamps are
Sakura – Japan – A cherry blossom is the flower of the many varieties of trees of genus Prunus particularly Japanese Cherry called Prunus serrulata called Sakura in Japanese.
Sri Lanka –Blue Water Lily– Nymphaea Nouchali is known by common names as Blue Water Lily , Blue Lotus, Nil Manel in Sinhalese . It is a water Lily of Genus nymphaea. It was chosen as the National Flower of Sri Lanka in Feb 1986.
