A set of 16 stamps was issued by India Post on Headgears of India on 10 Feb 2017.These headgears from different parts of the country signify social ,cultural and community values. A set of 16 Souvenir covers issued by India Post on these 16 types of Headgears are listed.
Mysore Peta : The Mysore turban is called the “Peta” and is named after a Wodeyar King of Mysore who wore the Peta. In the districts of Kodagu and Mysore,turban is considered to be the source of Pride. Notable personalities are honoured by presenting them with the Mysore Peta. In the district of Kodagu men team their ethnic dress with a turban on the celebration of special occasions.
