USA issued a 10 cent Definitive stamp on Red Pears on 23 Mar 2017.It was issued in sheets of 20 stamps.
Pears are one of world’s oldest cultivated fruits .They grow on medium sized,long lived ,flowering trees that generally bear fruits from fourth to sixth year onwards. A large number of varieties green,red,yellow and brown are grown throughout the World. Due to spontaneous mutation process a green pear bearing tree may surprise with red pears on a stock branch.Red pears otherwise are hybridised or are a result of crossbreeding of different varieties.These low calorie fruits are agood source of Fiber,Potassium and Vitamin C.
