Germany issued a special cancellation on Alter Lighthouse at Borkum in Lower Saxony on 19 Mar 2011. A Cover sent from Germany to India is listed. This tower was built in 1576 as a landmark, active lighthouse from 1817 to 1879, from 1895 to 1921 used a maritime traffic control station.
