Forest Fruits on Stamps – Poland 1977.

Poland issued a set of eight stamps on Forest Fruits on 17 Mar 1977. The FDCs are listed.

4.50 Zl – Prunus Spinosa- It is called blackthorn or sloe from the rose family. the fruit is similar to plum but tart. Juice and sloe are used to make fake Port Wine, Vodka and Liqueur. (Print run of stamp  4,300,000)

6.0 Zl- Dog Rose  – Rose family. Noted for the high level of Vitamin C and is used to make tea, syrup marmalade. rich source of Vitamin C from its fruit as rose- hip syrup. Print run 3,175,000.
