Eight Auspicious Symbols of Buddhism-Bhutan Miniature Sheet 2016.
The Ashtamangala are a sacred suite of Eight auspicious signs endemic to various religions such as Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism etc. In Buddhism, these eight symbols of good fortune represent the offerings made by Gods to Shakyamuni Buddha immediately after he attained enlightenment. Tibetan Buddhists use a particular set for use in household and public art.
Bhutan issued a miniature sheet of eight stamps (each of Nu 30 denomination) on 16 April 2016 depicting the eight auspicious symbols of Buddhism. The symbols featured on stamps are
Sernya (Golden Fish)
Drami (Eternal Knot)
Meto Pema (Lotus)
Khorlo (Wheel of Wisdom)
Gyeltshen(Victory Banner)
Bumpa ( Treasure Vase)
Dungkar ( Conch Shell)
Dhug (Parasol)
