State Bird and Flowers of Maryland – USA 1982.

The USA issued a set of 50 stamps on State Birds and Flowers of States of the USA on 14 Apr 1982. We are listing them in Alphabetical order of States name. All stamps are 20 cents denomination. Stamps on 21st State are listed.

Maryland– State Bird – Baltimore Oriole designated as State Bird in 1947.  It is a songbird whose numbers are declining. The Female Oriole’s feathers are brownish olive and dull orange whereas male plumage is black and brilliant golden-orange.

State Flower- Black-eyed Susan. It was designated as the state flower in 1918. A member of the Sunflower family with yellow petals and dark centre

First Day Cover is listed, it shows Maine as the Middle Atlantic States of USA.
