The First Winter Olympics were held in Chamonix, France in 1924 in which 16 Nations participated in 6 Sports, 9 Disciplines and 16 events in Men’s and Women’s Category.
The 2018 Winter Olympics also known XXIII Olympic Winter Games and commonly known as PyeongChang 2018 were held in Pyeongchang County, Gangwon Province, South Korea from 9th to 25th Feb 2018. A total of 2922 athletes from 92 countries participated. South Korea hosted the Winter Olympics for the First time .Seoul had hosted the Summer Olympics in 1988.
The 1992 Winter Olympics or XVI Winter Olympics were held in Albertville France from 8-23 Feb 1992. The then French President Francois Mitterrand inaugurated the Games. A total of 1801 athletes from 64 Nations participated in 6 Sports, 12 Disciplines and 57 events. Germany topped the medals tally with ten Gold Medals. The unified German team was participating for the first time after unification in 1990. This was the last time when the Summer and Winter Olympics were held in same year. The Winter Olympics were held in Lillehammer Norway in 1994.
