The 1964 Summer Olympics or XVIII Olympics were held in Tokyo Japan from 10 to 24 Oct 1964. Israel issued a set of four stamps on 24 Jun 1964 to commemorate the Olympics. A total of 5,151 athletes from 93 Nations participated in 19 Sports, 25 Disciplines and 163 events. Emperor Hirohito inaugurated the Games. The USA topped the medals tally with 36 Gold Medals.
