Stamps on 1992 Barcelona Olympics – Namibia 1992
The 1992 Summer Olympics or XXV Olympics were held in Barcelona Spain from 25 Jul to 09 Aug 1992. Namibia issued four stamps on 24 Jul 1992 to commemorate the Olympics. A total of 9,356 athletes from 169 Nations participated in 25 Sports, 34 Disciplines and 257 events. King Juan Carlos I inaugurated the Games. The unified team topped the medals tally with 45 Gold Medals.
Namibia’s First Participation in Olympics- Namibia became Independent on 21 Mar 1990. On Jun 16, 1991, The Namibia National Olympic Committee became a member of IOC and 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games were Namibia’s first Olympic Games.
Namibia issued a set of four stamps on 24 Jul 1992 to mark and commemorate the event. The FDC with four stamps is listed . FDC features Barcelona Olympic Games Emblem.
