APS Cover May 2019 –Platinum Jubilee 34 (Maratha) Field Regiment (Cassino -II)

APS Cover issued on 11 May 2019 to commemorate the Platinum Jubilee of Battle of Cassino by 34 (Maratha) Field Regiment. This Battalion was raised on 01 Feb 1941 and inducted into World War II as an Artillery unit initially in Iraq and Egypt with 2 & 18 pounder Guns. It played a decisive role in the Italian Campaign against the Germans in Battle of Cassino from 11-113 May 1944 which earned them the coveted Honour title of “Cassino” and one DSO, Two Military Cross and many other Gallantry medals.

The Cover features various Guns on the inventory of the Regiment during the last 78 years.
