Bangladesh gained Independence in 1971 and Bangladesh Olympic Committee (BOA) was formed in 1979. Bangladesh athletes first took part in the 1984 Los Angeles Summer Olympic Games. Bangladesh has never participated in the Winter Olympics.
Olympic Stamps- Bangladesh has issued 34 stamps on Summer Olympics from 1976 to 2016. Bangladesh Post Office brought out a booklet cum presentation pack containing all stamps it has issued from 1976 to 2008 Summer Olympics.

The 2008 Summer Olympics or XXIX Olympics were held in Beijing China from 08 to 24 Aug 2008. Nepal issued a Rupees 15 stamp on 21 Aug 2008 to commemorate the Olympics. A total of 10,942 athletes from 204 Nations participated in 28 Sports, 41 Disciplines and 302 events. President Hu Jintao of China inaugurated the Games. China topped the medals tally with 48 Gold Medals. Nepal has been participating in the Olympics since the 1964 Olympics.
Four stamps were issued in a Se-Tenant Block of Four.
