2019 ICC Cricket World Cup – 11 Days to go – Stamps on 2015 World Cup.
The 2015 cricket World Cup was played in Australia and New Zealand from 14 February to 29 Mar 2015. Fourteen teams participated in the 11th World Cup.
New Zealand issued a unique miniature sheet on 4th February 2015. This miniature sheet contained 14 stamps on the Fourteen participating teams. Each country was represented by a Cricket ball and the Flag of the Country. Each stamp had a face value of 80 cents. The stamps were imperforate and peel off variety. In the centre, a label with ICC World Cup logo was printed.
India specific sheet – This sheet was also sold by New Zealand Post through India Post Philatelic Bureaus. The India specific sheet had a different label in the centre of the sheet. It showed the Trophy established in 1975 and below that a caption which reads “ICC Cricket World Cup Champions 1983 & 2011 India”.
Bangladesh issued a commemorative postage stamp of 10 taka denomination on 15 Mar 2015 to commemorate the 2015 Cricket World Cup. It features the Trophy, Bangladesh players on the Field and a Stadium. The total print run for this was 350,000 stamps only.
The first day cover Issued by Bangladesh features the Flags of all the 14 participating countries and the World Cup Trophy.
Bangladesh issued a set of six stamps on Fruits on 16 July 1990. The First Day with six stamps is listed. The fruits are Mango, Papaya, Watermelon, Guava, Jackfruit & Starfruit.The Cover also features Bananas, Pineapple & Custard Apple.
The 1994 FIFA World Cup was held in the USA from 17 Jun to 17 Jul 1994. It was held in nine cities across the USA. Brazil beat Italy in Penalty shoot out in the finals held at Rose Bowl, Pasadena, California near Los Angeles.
Bangladesh issued a set of two twenty taka stamps with a vignette to commemorate the 15th FIFA World Cup. The stamps were issued on 17 June 1994.
The Vignette featured Striker -The Mascot for this World Cup. Striker -a Dog, a common US Pet animal wearing red, White & blue soccer uniform with the words “USA 94” was the mascot for this World cup.
The cancellation for the first day of issue featured the World Cup Trophy. A First Day cover with a pair of stamps and a vignette is listed.
50 Years of language movement- Miniature Sheet Bangladesh 2002
The Language Movement reached its peak in Feb 1952 and made a big contribution to the 1971 War of Liberation. Bangladesh issued a MINIATURE SHEET with Rupees 30 stamp on 21 Feb 2012 to mark 50 years of Language Movement and International Mother Language Day.
UNESCO declared 21 Feb as International Mother Language Day on 17 Nov 1999.
