The First Winter Olympics were held in Chamonix, France in 1924 in which 16 Nations participated in 6 Sports, 9 Disciplines and 16 events in Men’s and Women’s Category.
The 1992 Winter Olympics or XVI Winter Olympics were held in Albertville France from 8-23 Feb 1992. The then French President Francois Mitterrand inaugurated the Games. A total of 1801 athletes from 64 Nations participated in 6 Sports, 12 Disciplines and 57 events. Germany topped the medals tally with ten Gold Medals. The unified German team was participating for the first time after unification in 1990. This was the last time when the Summer and Winter Olympics were held in the same year. The Winter Olympics were held in Lillehammer Norway in 1994.
