Staunton Chess Pieces on Stamps – Malawi 1988.

Malawi issued a set of stamps on 08 Feb 1988 featuring Local and Staunton Chess Pieces. Staunton Chess set comprises of a particular style of chess pieces used for a game of chess. It is used in the competitions. Journalist Nathaniel Cooke is credited with the design and is named after English Chess Master Howard Staunton. The standard set consists of Pawn, Rook, Knight, Bishop, Queen & King.
