International Year of Plant Health – Portugal 2020
The United Nations General Assembly has declared 2020 as International Year of Plant Health to raise global awareness on how protecting Plant health can help end hunger, reduce poverty , protect environment and boost economic growth. The Theme is “Protecting Plants, Protecting Life”.
Portugal issued a set of Four Stamps on International Year of Plant Health.

0.86 Euro – Bursaphelenchus xylophilus – The pine wood nematode is considered to be one of the most potentially destructive species for coniferous forests
0.91 Euro – Ceratitis capitata– Known as the Mediterranean fruit fly, this pest attacks a variety of crops and wild plants, laying its eggs in their fruit.
2.00 Euro- Rhynchophorus ferrugineus -The palm weevil attacks several species of palm trees, causing damage which can lead to the death of these plants without the necessary treatment
