Greetings to Indian Army

It was on 15 Jan 1949 that Lt Gen (Later Field Marshal) K M Cariappa was appointed Commander -in -Chief of Indian Army. He was the First Indian to be appointed . This day is now celebrated as Army Day.

A Rupees Two stamp was issued on 15 Jan 1995 (Army Day) on Field Marshal K M Cariappa. It was on 15 Jan 1949 that he became the First Indian Commander -in -Chief of Indian Army.
