French Tennis Federation Centenary – Suzanne Lenglen -France 2020.

France issued a 1.16 Euro stamp on 17 Nov 2020 to mark Centenary of French Tennis Federation . the Stamp features the legendary tennis player Suzanne Lenglen.

Suzanee Lenglen (1899-1938) . She was ranked the original No 1 from 1921 to 1926. She was ranked 24th greatest player of all time series . She won 250 titles which included 83 Singles Title , 74 in Doubles and 93 in Mixed Doubles. She won 8 Singles Grand Slam Titles (6 Wimbledon, Two French Open) including Five in a row Wimbledon titles from 1919 to 1923. won Triple crowns at French Open in 1925 & !926. She won six other titles at Wimbledon.

Honours – The French Women’s Singles Trophy is named after her. It was named Coupe Suzanne Lenglen in 1987.

At Stade Roland Garros the second show court is named Court Suzanne Lenglen in 1997. Outside the court is a Bronze relief statue of hers installed in 1994. The main entrance to Ground is Porte Suzanne Lenglen which leads to Allee Suzanne Lenglen.

Lenglen was inducted into International Tennis hall of Fame in 1978. she was awarded Cross of the Legion of Honour after her death. Another road in Nice is named Avenue Suzanne Lenglen.

She has few books to her credit – Lawn Tennis for Girls , Lawn Tennis: The Game of Nations , The Love Game , Simple Exercises etc.
