UEFA Euro 2021 European Football Championship – Hungary 2021.

About UEFA Euro 2020TM European Football Championship

The European football championship is Europe’s most prestigious international football cup. The first finals were held in 1960, when it was known as the European Nations Cup. On every occasion the teams reach the final tournament after playing qualifying rounds. The Hungarian team last played in the European championship in 2016 and now has earned the chance to take part in the finals again. The football tournament for the men’s teams of UEFA member countries is held every four years, but the 2020 championship was postponed due to the pandemic and is now being staged between 11 June and 11 July 2021. This year the European championships are celebrating their 60th anniversary and the matches of the UEFA EURO 2020TM will be played in European cities, including Budapest, where the venue will be the Puskás Arena, opened in 2019.

The central element of UEFA’s official logo is the bridge, symbolising togetherness as bridges connect people, just as football does. The Hungarian souvenir sheet shows the Chain Bridge and the Puskás Arena together with other iconic buildings and squares of Budapest as well as the event’s logo. Apart from an image of the illuminated Puskás Arena, the logo also appears on the first day cover. The silhouette of the Puskás Arena features in the special postmark.

Hungary issued a Miniature sheet on 04 June 2021 . The tournament starts from 11 Jun.
