Pancho Vladigerov – Bulgaria 2019

Bulgaria issued a 0.65 Lev stamp to mark 120th Birth Anniversary of Composer Pancho Vladigerov (1899-1978) . He was born in Zurich and moved to Sofia in 1910 after his father’s death. His Maternal Grandfather Leon Pasternak was a Mathematician , Master Chess player . Based on Jewish Tune his grandfather taught him he composed in 1951 his great symphony ‘The Jewish Poem” Opus 47.

He combined the idioms of Bulgarian Folk Music and Classical Music. the Violin Sonata and Piano Trio is his contribution to Bulagrian Music. The Bulgarian Governmant awarded him the highest honor Dimitriv Prize in 1952.
