Philatelic Literature – An overview
A stamp collection is incomplete if you do not have the Technical Details, Denominations, Date of issue , Colours , event history , story behind the stamp , numbers printed and many such things associated with the small piece of Paper.
As a young child whenever i used to get a stamp the first thing i would look for is the story and details behind the stamp. This led to searching for Books , Catalogues or Information brochures issued by Post Offices. Yet the Information was never complete or did not answer your questions.
We shall try & give you a little knowledge about this aspect of Philately. Readers are most welcome to add to the Information that is provided.
Stanley Gibbons have been catalogues and Magazines since 1865. The Commonwealth and British Empire Catalogues are like Treasure troves published.
