Quince Scented Stamp of Switzerland – Miniature sheet 2017
The Quince was declared Switzerland’s Fruit of Year 2017.To mark this special honor a limited edition miniature sheet was issued on 31 Aug 2017 which gives off fragrance of Quince.
FRUCTUS has designated a fruit of every year since 2008. It is a charitable organisation established in 1985 as a nationwide association in Switzerland to promote a gene bank for all fruit varieties and standard orchards.
The name Quince derives from latin word “malium cydonium” or cydonian apple .
Quince is a stone fruit. A very few foreign varieties can be eaten raw. The Quince found in Switzerland are known for their heady fragrant scent and many delicacies that can be prepared from them .
The miniature sheet features the refreshing color and shape of this fruit as well as its sensuous aromas. the fruit on miniature sheet is treated with a special varnish which releases the aroma when touched.

The Matter Valley (Mattertal in German) is located in southwestern Switzerland, South of Rhone valley in the canton of Valais. The village of Zermatt (1600m) is the most important settlement of the valley with about 5,600 inhabitants. Located in the Pennine Alps, the matter valley is drained by Matter Vispa, a tributary of Rhone.

Pro Patria Stamps of Switzerland 1936 -2019 -An Introduction
Pro Patria (Switzerland) is a Swiss patriotic and charitable organisation founded in 1909 by a group of spirited citizens led by a merchant named Albert Schuster. Its purpose is to collect donations for the benefit of social and cultural works of national public interest. Pro Patria principally collects donations through the sale of postage stamps, postcards & badges, in co-operation with Swiss Post. Post offices sold Federal celebration postcards from 1910 to 1960 and postage stamps since 1936.
Each year a set of Postage stamps with a theme is issued by Swiss Post and the surcharge represents the donation to Pro Patria.
Since 1923 Pro Patria have also produced an Annual Federation Celebration Badge which is sold in Post Offices and by Volunteers.
Pro Patria Philately – It is a popular field of Philately throughout the World. Though the collection of stamps since 1936, used and mint condition may not be very difficult, both rarity wise and financially, but the interests lie in varieties of used products associated with stamps like FDCs, FDCs sent from Switzerland, Used Postcards and such like products.
The theme for the 1969 Pro Patria stamps was Art. The stamps were issued on 29 May 1969. A Greeting Card with a 50+20c Pro Patria stamp is listed. This stamp features Madonna with Child. The theme is Art, Stained glass and Religion.
