The Greater Horseshoe bat is a European bat of the species Rhinolophus.It is largest of the European Horseshoe bats and notable as having the oldest recorded age of upto 30 years for any European bat. The frequencies used by this bat lie between 69-83 KHz.

Johannes Muller (1801-1858) was a German Physiologist and Comparative anatomist.
