Stamps of Bhutan on Paintings – 1993

Bhutan issued a set of stamps on 02 May 1993 which featured some famous paintings by European  painters . The Painters and their works which were featured are

Vittore Carpaccio  (1465-1525) An Italian painter of Venetian School who is best known for cycle of nine paintings. Painting named “The Writer” is featured on the stamps.

Hans Holbein ( 1497-1543 ) -German Painter ,artist ,printmaker  who worked in Northern Renaissance style and is known as the greatest portraitists of the 16th Century.The painting Portrait of Erasmus is featured on the two stamps issued.

Gerard Terbouch ( 1617 -1681 ) – An influential and pioneering Dutch Genre Painter.His work “Woman writing a letter” is featured on the stamps.
