World War I and Philately -Royal 22nd Regiment of Canada – Pre- Stamped Envelope
In 1914 the Government of Canada raised the 22nd (French-Canadian) Battalion, the only Francophone unit to fight the First World War. King George V honoured it with title Royal.
In WWII the Royal 22nd Regiment distinguished itself in Sicily,Italy,The Netherlands and northern Germany. It also served in Korean War ,Afghanistan and Many UN andNato Missions.
A pre stamped envelope was issued on 19 Oct 2013 to mark Centenary of WW I and Centenary of The Royal 22nd Regiment.
2014 marked centenary of beginning of WW I and 2018 marks end of WW I
