The First Winter Olympics were held in Chamonix, France in 1924 in which 16 Nations participated in 6 Sports, 9 Disciplines and 16 events in Men’s and Women’s Category.

The 1964 Winter Olympics or IX Winter Olympics were held in Innsbruck Austria from 29 Jan to 09 Feb 1964. The then Austrian President Adolf Scharf inaugurated the Games. A total of 1091 athletes from 36 Nations participated in 6 Sports, 10 Disciplines and 34 events.USSR topped the medals tally with 11 Gold Medals.
