State Bird and Flowers of New Mexico – USA 1982.

The USA issued a set of 50 stamps on State Birds and Flowers of States of the USA on 14 Apr 1982. We are listing them in Alphabetical order of States name. All stamps are 20 cents denomination. Stamps on 29th State are listed.

New Mexico– State BirdRoad Runner designated as State Bird in 1949. Hopi and Pueblo Indian tribes believe that roadrunner provided protection against evil spirits.

State FlowerYucca.            It was designated as the state flower in 1927. A desert plant also called “Our Lords Candles”.40-50 species are known. Roots are sometimes used as soap.

First Day Cover is listed, it shows New Mexico as the Southwest State of the USA.
