Stamps on Richie Benaud – Sports Broadcaster and Cricketer -Australia 2020

Richie Benaud ( 06 Oct 1930- 10 Apr 2015) of Australia who played 63 Test Matches for Australia from 1952-1964 scoring 2201 runs and taking 248 Wickets.

Career as Broadcaster – In 1960 did his first Radio Cricket Commentary for BBC. After retiring moved into Television Commentary. He worked for BBC, Channel 4 and Australia’s Channel 9. He played or commented in 500 Tests.

He was awarded the OBE in 1961,Sport Australia Hall of Fame in 1985, In 2007 inducted into Australian Cricket Hall of Fame and in 2009 in ICC Cricket Hall of Fame.

In 2017 Australia Mint issued a 50 Cent Coin Commemorating Benaud in Nov 2016 and was used for the Toss in Third Test between Australia and South Africa at Adelaide Oval. He Played his last test against South Africa. The coin has a limited mintage of 95,929 reflecting Benaud’s career statistics of Balls Bowled, Wickets taken and Runs scored.
