World Radiography Day – Nov 08
World Radiography Day is celebrated every year on 08 Nov. It marks the anniversary of Discovery of X-Radiations by Wilhelm Roentgen in 1895. This day is used by Radiographers to highlight vital contribution radiography is making to modern health care and increase public awareness of diagnostic imaging and radiation therapy.
Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen (1845-1923) was a German Physicist , During experiment with Crookes’ vacuum tube he discovered an unknown radiation. He named it as x-rays and almost described its physical properties in a paper published in 1896.
1901 Nobel Prize for Physics was awarded to Roentgen.
1905 Nobel Prize for Physics was awarded to Ph. Lenard (1862-1947) reported on the properties of x-rays without realizing their true nature. He was a competitor for the First Nobel Prize in Physics.
