Unsung Heroes – Special Covers from Himachal Pradesh- 13 Oct 2021.
As part of Azadi ka amrit Mahostav (75th Anniversary of Independence) Special Covers on Unsung Heroes will be released across India by various State Level Postal Circles. Himachal Pradesh Postal Circle released a set of three special covers on 13 Oct 2021 coinciding with SIPEX 2021 , a three virtual Philatelic Exhibition.
Bhai Hirda Ram (28 Nov 1885 -21 Aug 1965) – He was born in Mandi and was a member of the Ghadar Party. He was convicted in Lahore Bomb Conspiracy case by British in 1915 and sentenced to death . His death sentence was later converted to life imprisonment which he spent in Cellular Jail in Andaman & Nicobar Islands. He was relaesed in 1929 and died in 1965. He was not given status of Freedom fighter even after Independence and his land confiscated by British after his conviction has still not been returned to his heirs.
