Hardekar Manjappa – Gandhi of Karnataka – Special Covers India 2022.

Hardekar Manjappa was born in 1886 in a village called Banvasi in Sirsi in North Karnataka . He was a Political thinker , Writer , Freedom Fighter , Social Reformer , Journalist . Initially inclined towards Tilak’s ideology and then under the folds of Mahatma Gandhi to promote Khadi , spread the concept of Swadeshi and Swaraj. He was founder of a Marathi newsletter in Sep 1903 called Dhanurdhari. In 1924 presented a Book on Basavanna to Gandhi.

He is fondly remembered as Gandhi of Karnataka. He passed away on 03 Jan 1947.
