Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon was born in Ludhiana on 17th July 1945.

Flying Officer Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon, Param Vir Chakra, displayed extraordinary courage during the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971.On 14 December 1971. For his sublime heroism, supreme gallantry, flying skill, and self-sacrifice above and beyond the call of duty, Sekhon was awarded the Param Vir Chakra (PVC) Posthumously. He served as a fighter pilot in the No. 18 Squadron “Flying Bullets” of the Indian Air Force.
