The First Winter Olympics were held in Chamonix, France in 1924 in which 16 Nations participated in 6 Sports, 9 Disciplines and 16 events in Men’s and Women’s Category.
The 1984 Winter Olympics or XIV Winter Olympics were held in Sarajevo Yugoslavia (Now in Bosnia & Herzegovina) from 08- 19 Feb 1984. The then President of Yugoslavia Mika Spiljak inaugurated the Games. A total of 1272 athletes from 49 Nations participated in 6 Sports, 10 Disciplines and 39 events. East Germany (GDR) topped the medals tally with 09 Gold Medals.
