Miniature Sheet on Char Dham Uttarakhand – India 2019.
Char Dham are Four holy sites in Uttarakhand which are revered by Hindus and devotees undertake a holy pilgrimage to these sites.
Yamunotri – On the banks of Yamuna River.a temple built by King of Tehri in 1839 houses the idols of Goddess Yamuna and Goddess Ganga. Hot water spring Surya Kund is also here.
Gangotri Dham – the temple devoted Goddess Ganga stands facing River Bhagirathi which originates from Glacier Gaumukh.
Kedarnath – The Farthest Dham located at 3500m above sea level is situated in Rudraprayag District of Uttarakhand. Shiva temple adorns this Dham.
Badrinath – The Badrinarayan temple in Badrinath devoted to LordVishnu is the most visited temple in India. This Dham is located in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand alongside Alakhnanada river.
India Post issued four stamps on 29 Nov 2019 on these Char Dhams in the form of Sheetlets and a mixed sheetlet containing four Se-tenant blocks of Four. Each Sheetlet contains 16 stamps and 25000 sheetlets of each variety have been issued.
Siachen Glacier is located in Eastern Karakoram ranges in the Himalayas at an elevation of 5,753 metres. It is the longest glacier in the Karakoram and second-longest Glacier in non-polar areas. Siachen in Balti language means Land with an abundance of roses.
India issued a Rupees Five Commemorative stamp on Siachen Glacier 25 Oct 2019.
Stamps on “The Samaja” Oriya Newspaper -India 2019.
“The Samaja” is an Oriya Language newspaper founded in 1919 by a Nationalist and a Freedom Fighter Utkalamani Pandit Gopabandhu Das. It has now a readership of almost 16 Lakhs (1.6 Million) and daily Circulation of 350,000. It is published from eight cities across three states in India (Odisha, Andhra Pradesh & West Bengal).
Some of the prominent personalities who have contributed to its growth and have been associated with it are Lal Bahadur Shastri, Lala Lajpat Rai, Sri Krishna Kant, Balwant Rai Mehta, Purshottam Das Tandon. The “Samaja” is owned and managed by “Servants of People Society” founded by Lala Lajpat Rai.
India Post issued a commemorative stamp of Rs 5 to celebrate Centenary year of “The Samaja”. The stamp has Braille writing. It was issued on 06 Oct 2019.
First Day Cover 2019- Kumbh Mela Prayagraj – India
The Ardh Khumb Mela at Prayagraj (erstwhile Allahabad) was held from 15 Jan 2019 to 04 Mar 2019 (55 days). 120 million Hindu Devotees participated in this social and religious congregation at Sangam confluence of Ganga and Yamuna. It is a UNESCO intangible cultural heritage. The Logo of 2019 Kumbh shows Sadhus bathing in the confluence of Sangam.
