Unsung Heroes – Special Covers from Himachal Pradesh- 13 Oct 2021.
As part of Azadi ka amrit Mahostav (75th Anniversary of Independence) Special Covers on Unsung Heroes will be released across India by various State Level Postal Circles. Himachal Pradesh Postal Circle released a set of three special covers on 13 Oct 2021 coinciding with SIPEX 2021 , a three virtual Philatelic Exhibition.
Wazir Ram Singh Pathania (10 Apr 1824 – 11 Nov 1849) – Ram Singh Pathania was born in Knagra District of Himachal Pradesh. His father was a minister of Raja Veer Singh in the State of Nurpur . Under the British-Sikh convention of 1846 British brought Himachal Pradesh Princely States under them. Raja Veer Sigh’s son joined hands with Katoch Rajputs and made a call against British. Ram singh Pathania was Minister under King Jaswant. He was arrested by British forces sentenced to life imprisonment in Andamans and then sent to Rangoon (Now Yangon Myanamar) and tortured to death on 11 Nov 1849.
